This article will give you some ideas to help you launch your sales career, even if you do not have any sales experience.
My personal experience in launching a sales career started while I was in college. I took on an account executive sales role on a part time basis that gave me the outside sales experience needed for a sales job that I wanted for the future. Sit down and develop a sales career plan, to know where you wtant to go in the future. Your first sales job might be a stepping stone to help your reach a better sales position, but like many other sales professionals, we all need our start somewhere.
It is important to not take any sales job, as it might not help you with the direction you want to take your sales career. Be selective in the type of sales job your apply for and if possible, take a position in the industry that you want to be in. If you unsure about where you want to go in terms of your sales career, then do some exploring and try different things out. Another option is to have informational interviews with current sales professionals so that you can gain insights as to what they do and assess if it fits into your career aspirations.
SKILLS
When developing your sales career plan, be sure to look into the skills you already have that can be transferable skills to a sales role. Write down how the different skills you have could be transferrable to the sales role. Look into what is required of the sales job and to tie in your talents, skills and education to the requirements.
